Serena Rhee, Ph.D., was previously an assistant professor of economics at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She also held research fellow positions at the RAND Corporation, USC Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics, and Korea Development Institute. She earned a BA in economics, summa cum laude, from Seoul National University, and a Ph.D. in economics at the University of Pennsylvania, with a focus on labor economics, public economics, and macroeconomics. She is interested in understanding the role of health status in individuals’ labor-market outcomes over the life cycle and designing optimal public policies to promote the welfare-improving allocation of resources in the context of the macroeconomy. She will offer Welfare Economics and Economic Policy this fall semester and Public Economics next spring semester.
