Institute of Economic Research of Chung-Ang University was established in March 1976 to study not only the development of pure economic theory but also economic issues at home and abroad.
As of 2009, about 20 researchers and assistant researchers are involved in research activities in various fields of economics.
It holds regular seminars twice a month and participates in research ordering activities from government departments, external research institutes or private companies.
The research institute regularly publishes lectures on invitations to eminent economists.
In order to share and utilize research results with domestic external research institutes, CAU Institute of Economic Research is engaged in commissioned and collaborative research with Korea Development Institute (KDI), Korea Labor Institute (KLI), Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP), etc.
In addition, the Institute has been active in exchanging memorandum of understanding with the Chuo University and the Kyoto University Economic Research Institute of Japan on academic exchanges in order to promote international academic exchanges.
