Why Populist Economics Fails

Professor Sangwon Suh of the School of Economics at Chung-Ang University has recently published a new book titled Why Populist Economics Fails: The Political Economy of Repeated Promises and Disappointments.

The book examines the political-economic conditions that repeatedly give rise to populist policies and analyzes their economic consequences. Drawing on cases from around the world, it explores the common mechanisms through which populism operates.

To commemorate the publication of the book, the 4th Seoul Round Table on Political Economy will be held on June 16.

At the seminar, Professor Sangwon Suh will present the main arguments and research findings discussed in the book.
