Professor Sang-kyu Lee of our university’s Department of Economics has been appointed as the 15th President of the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI).

The National Research Council for Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences (NRC), which operates under the Office of the Prime Minister, announced that it selected Professor Lee as the new president at its board meeting held on March 27. His three-year term officially began on March 31.

Professor Lee has previously served as a Senior Research Fellow at KISDI, an Auditor of the Korean Association for Information and Telecommunication Policy Studies, and a Non-Executive Director of the Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO).

In his inaugural address, Professor Lee emphasized, “Beyond the digital transformation of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we must thoroughly prepare for the era of AI. By actively leveraging the diverse data and experience accumulated by the institute, KISDI should become a research institute that prepares for and leads the future.”

He added, “Internally, we will strive to enhance research capacity by attracting outstanding talent and nurturing human resources, while creating a supportive research and working environment for employees. Externally, we will expand collaboration among the public, private, and academic sectors and promote joint research initiatives.”
