Professor Changhee Kang of the Department of Economics at Chung-Ang University received a Minister of Education Commendation on December 19, 2025, in recognition of his contributions to diagnosing key issues in the education sector and supporting policymaking through data analysis and statistics-based research.

Professor Kang is a leading scholar in education economics in Korea and has published 11 research papers since 2012 utilizing Korean education data. Since 2023, he has served as Director of the Private Education Policy Research Center under the Chung-Ang University Institute of Economic Research, supporting the Ministry of Education in developing evidence-based education policies. He has also served as a member of the Ministry of Education’s Education Data Strategy Committee and as Vice President for Academic Affairs at Chung-Ang University. Currently, he leads the BK21 Education and Research Team in the Department of Economics, where he integrates his extensive policy research experience into graduate education.
In his remarks, Professor Kang stated, “This recognition was made possible thanks to the strong foundation that allows the Department of Economics at Chung-Ang University to continuously conduct empirical research on education policy, following its selection for major programs such as the National Research Foundation’s Priority Research Institute Support Program and the Ministry of Education’s BK21 FOUR Project.” He added, “I am deeply grateful to Chung-Ang University for its generous support for the growth of the department.”
He concluded by saying, “Going forward, I will continue to dedicate myself to research and education that combine advanced program evaluation methodologies with AI and big data analysis, and contribute to establishing Chung-Ang University as a world-class research hub in education economics and policy evaluation.”
