Lim Young-joo, Ph.D. Student in the Department of Economics
Lim Young-joo, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Economics at Chung-Ang University, has been selected as a recipient of the ILERA 2018 Seoul World Congress Commemorative Scholarship. Among the three scholarship recipients selected this year, Lim was recognized in the field of Labor Economics. This marks the second consecutive year that a Ph.D. student from Chung-Ang University’s Department of Economics has received this prestigious scholarship.
Lim’s research focuses on the effects of tax and transfer policies on the economic decision-making of individuals and households, with particular emphasis on the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Tax Credit (CTC). Her recent studies examine the impact of the expanded EITC on the labor supply of older adults and the effects of the CTC on the consumption and debt of low-income households with children, contributing empirical evidence on the effectiveness of income support policies for vulnerable populations.
The ILERA 2018 Seoul World Congress Commemorative Scholarship has been jointly awarded since 2019 by the Korean Industrial Relations Association, the Korean Society of Labor Law, and the Korean Labor Economic Association to commemorate the successful hosting of the ILERA 2018 Seoul World Congress. Each year, one outstanding graduate student is selected from each of the three fields—industrial relations, labor law, and labor economics—based on academic excellence and research potential.
Lim received the scholarship certificate, plaque, and scholarship award at the Korean Industrial Relations Association Awards Ceremony held on June 24 at Yongji Hall, Chonnam National University Graduate School of Business. Her research findings will be presented at the 2027 Korean Industrial Relations Association Summer Conference.
