A scholarship award ceremony for the “Na Jeong-yeop Scholarship,” established by CEO Jeong-yeop Na (Economics Class of ’86, Head of Gahyeon Tax Corporation), and the “Skian Scholarship,” created by alumni of the Department of Economics for current students, was held at 11:00 a.m. on the 19th in Room 930, Building 310.

The ceremony was attended by CEO Jeong-yeop Na, Dean Sun Go of the Department of Economics, Professors Won-ho Song, Hyun-jung Jin, and Hoon Choi, along with student donors and eight scholarship recipients.

CEO Na is an alumnus of the Department of Economics (Class of ’86) who began his career as a civil servant through the national public service examination and served as a tax official for 35 years at the National Tax Service. After being appointed as Director of the Gyeonggi Gwangju Tax Office at the end of 2018, he focused on providing taxpayer-centered services, including proactive outreach to taxpayers. Following his retirement in December 2019, he opened a tax accounting office near the tax office in January 2020, embarking on a new chapter of his professional life as a certified tax accountant.

In addition, Mingyu Kim (Class of ’18) and Sunbin Kim (Class of ’21), undergraduate students in the Department of Economics, donated the prize money they received for winning an Excellence Award at the 4th Korean Peninsula–Northern Region Paper Competition, hosted by the HK+ National Strategy Project Group of the Center for International Area Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, to establish the Skian Scholarship, demonstrating their commitment to giving back to junior students.

CEO Na remarked, “Our students are talented individuals who can succeed wherever they go. I hope they continue to move forward and grow through diverse experiences.”

Dean Sun Go expressed his gratitude, stating, “We are deeply thankful for the generous support from CEO Na and our alumni for the benefit of our students. It is truly an honor to have such distinguished alumni and seniors. I hope our current students will grow into outstanding individuals through this support.”

At the ceremony, approximately KRW 8.4 million in scholarships was awarded to eight recipients of the Na Jeong-yeop Scholarship and one recipient of the Skian Scholarship.

Those wishing to make donations to the Department of Economics at Chung-Ang University may designate their contributions for various purposes, including scholarship funds, development funds, and research funds.

Dean Go added, “While scholarship and development funds are relatively well established, research funds remain limited. Contributions to the JED Research Fund of the Department of Economics would greatly support academic activities and international exchanges that strengthen our educational and research capacity.”
