As part of its international exchange program, the Department of Economics at Chung-Ang University visited National Taiwan University (NTU)—one of Taiwan’s leading universities—for five days from Thursday, December 4 to Monday, December 8. Led by Dean Sun Go of the Department of Economics and Professor Jiwoong Moon, the program brought together 12 undergraduate students selected through the Economics Forum held in November, providing them with an opportunity to broaden their global economic perspectives.

During the visit, students from Chung-Ang University participated in academic presentation sessions with NTU students. Participants presented their respective research and engaged in discussions, deepening their understanding of the realities in Korea and Taiwan and exploring various ways in which economics can contribute to addressing pressing social issues. In a separate session, Chung-Ang University students introduced K-culture to NTU students and offered hands-on cultural experiences, which received enthusiastic responses. The delegation also attended a special lecture by Professor Joseph Tao-yi Wang, a world-renowned experimental economist at NTU, gaining new insights and expanding their academic horizons.

Beyond academic activities, the group visited key economic sites and cultural venues in Taiwan, witnessing firsthand the dynamism of the local economy. In particular, students enjoyed a night market tour with NTU students, experiencing local culture up close and building friendships through active exchange.
Sujeong Kim (Class of 2021, Department of Economics), who participated in the program, shared her reflections: “It was meaningful to see how research conducted from the perspective of Korean university students was received by Taiwanese students, and to gain new academic stimulation from their research reflecting Taiwan’s economic conditions. This exchange broadened my perspective on economics, and I hope the department’s international exchange programs continue to grow.”

Professor Sun Go added, “In the first half of next year, we plan to invite faculty members and students from the Department of Economics at National Taiwan University to Chung-Ang University to host an international academic conference.” He continued, “This international academic exchange not only provided students with unforgettable experiences and opportunities to interact with peers from a world-class university, but also significantly strengthened our research capacity. Chung-Ang University and National Taiwan University—both strong in policy evaluation and AI-driven big data economics—will continue to deepen collaboration and pursue international joint research going forward.
